The need for Digital Rights Management

The developments in digital content and their monetization are disrupting the status quo at a rate and degree we have not witnessed before. No media or entertainment business will remain unaffected by their impact. New technologies, data, tools and applications are providing the costumer with unprecedented control and influence over the content they choose to consume, along with how, when and where they do so.

Though, we can say Digital Rights Management is not a rocket science, but it does require ongoing oversight; to be performed effectively, it also calls for time and a methodical approach.

Anything, which has value is also high at risk and requires digital protection. To that end, content also requires digital rights management –which means managing the distribution of online content to ensure that licensing and copyright agreements are adhered to and that content is protected fully against piracy. The objective of DRM is to protect content against illegal access and unlawful distribution so as to retain its value.
